Psychology
of Influence: What Works, Why It works, & How to Do It
The ultimate form of influence is to have the other person
decide to do what you want them to do, without asking. You
can significantly improve your ability to influence others
by knowing the three levels of resistance, how to deal with
each, and using the six weapons of influence.
Relationships:
Creating & Building Them Systematically & Purposely, Not Ad
Hoc
Frankly, a great deal of your success is a function of your
ability to create and build relationships. Most people do
it poorly. They (1) wait until they need something, (2) seek
people who are able to help, and then (3) beg. The best approach
is to dig your well before you're thirsty...systematically
and very purposely.
Coalitions:
The Critical Key to Implementation Success
Implementation failure is nearly always a failure to build
coalitions. We can argue whether the right ideas or flawless
implementation is more important, but the biggest challenge
for most people is implementing the ideas. They don't truly
understand how critical coalitions are to their success and
therefore don't make the time. Moreover, most don't know how
to do it. Sloppy, incomplete implementations result.
Presentation
& Speaking Skills: Up Your Impact with the Right Structure,
Content & Delivery
You know people who are not as experienced, talented, or as
well-educated as you, yet they garner more recognition and
promotions. Why? They have learned to present ideas, solutions,
and positions well. Simply the position of speaking in front
of a group conveys a degree of expertness and leadership...if
you handle it well. Furthermore, opportunities to speak and
the pressure to do it well increase as your career progresses.
Master the skill as soon as possible.
Weekly
Team Meetings: Stimulating Inspiration, Innovation & Involvement
How do you get a group of people to face in the same direction
and to row in unison? Not for a couple of days, but for months
and years? How do you inspire them to do it with real involvement
and to deliver a stream of innovative ideas? It isn't easy.
But weekly team meetings can give you a head start on all
three...if you know what, why, and how.
Negotiating
Effectively: Strategy, Tactics and Counter-Tactics
You negotiate everyday, whether or not you see yourself as
a negotiator. And there is a price in every negotiation. In
fact, there are multiple prices...time, energy, hassle,
opportunity costs, risks, emotions, sleep, career, recognition,
terms and conditions and, yes...even money. How well are
you negotiating in order to get what you deserve?
