Executive Presentations: Build Yourself A Trumpet

If you want to be a more effective public speaker it is good to learn how we can say so much with such few words. Sims Wyeth my East Coast Fripp Associate always amazes me with the wisdom of his short pithy points.

Executive Presentations: Build yourself a trumpet

“Just as sound, pent up in the narrow channel of a trumpet, comes out sharper and stronger, so thought, compressed into the disciplined forms of argument, springs forth more violently and strikes a stiffer jolt.”

Montaigne (1533 –1592), a wise and entertaining Frenchman, wrote this as he contemplated the education of children.

As we contemplate our education as speakers, let’s follow his advice. The disciplined forms of argument can make us rich, powerful, and persuasive.
